LOCATION
Statutory Provisions
1.1
All Health & Safety Act(s), Regulations, E.C. Directives and
Policies which apply to the Company, are held in the Company
Office
1.2
These Act(s), Regulations and Policies should be included on the
induction checklist and be brought to the attention of all new
employees.
2.
METHODS OF WORKING
2.1
Methods of work governing the activities undertaken in this
Company are laid down in the Company Method Statement for
Portable Electrical Appliance & Machinery Testing.
2.2
These Guidelines take account of safe practice, identify hazards
and the means of controlling them. Health and Safety aspects of
working methods are reviewed annually as part of the Health and
Safety audit procedure or more frequently if deemed necessary by
management or a Health and Safety Representative.
2.3
Hours worked, breaks taken etc will be recorded and the
information monitored to ensure all employees meet the
requirements of the Working Time Regulations (1998)
3.
EMERGENCY ARRANGEMENTS
Fire
3.1
The procedure for dealing with fire and evacuating the Company
office in the event of fire is displayed at Main Entrance to the
Office.
3.2
Fire evacuation drills are carried out annually and may be
initiated without warning.
3.3
Each member of staff is familiarised with these arrangements
during induction.
3.4
Each member of staff must attend a fire lecture annually. It is
the responsibility of the Office Manager to ensure that
this is done and that records of attendances are kept. Any fire
incident must be reported as soon as possible to the Directors.
Accidents and First Aid
3.5
The First Aider for this Company is William Harvey
Director who is responsible for the First Aid Box, which is kept
at Main Office & Company Vehicles in accordance with the
Company First Aid Policy.
3.6
All Accident/injuries must be reported to the Directors and
recorded in the accident book kept in the Main Office and Company
Vehicles.
3.7
It is the responsibility of the Directors to ensure that all
accidents or dangerous occurrences shall be reported to the
relevant authorities as per the requirements of the Reporting of
Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations 1995.
4.
TRAINING
4.1
It is the responsibility of all managers to ensure that their
staff receive appropriate Health and Safety training and to
record such training.
5.
LEGAL RESPONSIBILITY
5.1
It is a statutory requirement that health and safety is the
responsibility of both employer and employee. Failure to comply
with Department Health and Safety guidelines could result in
disciplinary action or, ultimately, litigation.
6.
MANAGEMENT ACCOUNTABILITY
6.1
The person responsible for implementing the Company's Health,
Safety and Welfare Policy for this Company is William A Harvey.
